Survey Research

It is virtually impossible for Americans to go a day without encountering the results of some sort of poll, whether about elections, public opinion on a certain policy issue or what Americans favorite social media platform is. As a result, graduates who can conduct survey research are in high demand. Political science courses prepare you to be intelligent consumers of polls and, depending on the course, to learn how to create and implement scientifically-valid polls.

A sampling of courses for students interested in a career in survey research:

  • POLS 304: American Public Opinion
  • POLS 305: Parties and Elections
  • POLS 340: Political Analysis
  • POLS 341: Political Participation and Behavior
